The main difference between the two types of wood is that the cells in a hardwood tree are much more compact than the cells in a softwood tree. If you sliced a log from a hardwood tree and a softwood tree in half and examined the pieces you cut you can immediately tell the difference between the two. Due to the fact that hardwood is more compact it is generally stronger than softwood. In addition to that hardwood is also expensive and in lower supply than softwood because most hardwood trees have already been cut down and made into furniture. So if you want to get the best type of wood possible try and get a certain type of hardwood; there are many different types but almost all of them are equally as durable. Amish people in particular are renowned for the furniture that they make from hardwood trees.



Amish people do not believe in using electronic devices and they believe in living a simple life with all the basic commodities. For example, most Amish people do not even own cars but instead they use horses and carriages to get around. One thing that the Amish people do very well is make furniture. Almost all the furniture which is made from Amish people is made from the best hardwood around and it is designed by the most experienced carpenters in the Amish community. Some Amish furniture workshops use some basic electronic tools but the majority of the workshops do everything by hand which is quite impressive.
